A Festival-Themed Wedding in West Sussex
It’s been 1 year since these two tied the knot, so here are a few favorites from their festival-themed wedding, there were tipis, bubbles, bunting, home-made cakes, and a giant disco ball! Their wedding took place in August last year, on one of the hottest days during a heat wave (I know its hard to imagine the heat with the summer we’ve had this year).
I joined them about 30 minutes before the ceremony, which took place at Chapel Barn, which is a beautiful historic building located around 30 minutes from Brighton. Having bridal prep captured wasn’t important to Ella & Max, so I joined them from the ceremony, where Ella arrived with her dad and two bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore beautiful gingham print dresses, which I haven’t seen before for a bridal party but they looked stunning (I’m obsessed with anything and everything in gingham print). It was a beautiful ceremony, followed by plenty of confetti for their exit!!
The wedding festival continues, with drinks under the sun
After the confetti had been thrown, the celebrations began, and plenty of bubbly and refreshments were enjoyed under the sun. Ella’s bouquet of flowers was so beautiful, even a bumble bee came to say hello! As the temperature soared, so did the spirits of the guests, who enjoyed lawn games and giant bubbles. There was plenty of space for guests to socialise, from the deck chairs under the shade to the mini tipis which provided a moment of peace amongst the celebrations. The speeches were filled with laughter, and everyone enjoyed freshly made pizza, giving the day a proper festival vibe.
Due to the weather being so glorious and warm, we decided to wait until the sun cooled off and started to set, I found some much-needed shade on the grounds of the barn, where we spent some time capturing portraits of the two of them together. A portrait in front of the old barn was important to Ella, as she fell in love with it as soon as they viewed this venue. I didn’t want to keep them for long, I always try to keep a portrait session as short as possible, it wasn’t long before they were back enjoying themselves with their family and friends.
Festival vibes continue with post-dinner naps, giant Jenga, and photobooth fun!
With the amount of pizza and delicious home-made cakes that was consumed, some guests couldn’t help but fall asleep in the shade! I don’t blame them, a combination of heat, alcohol, and good food is a recipe for the perfect nap! It was such a nice chilled atmosphere heading into the evening, with games being played on the lawn, and friends catching up under the shade of a tree, it really was a perfect celebration with family and friends! A neighboring horse even popped over to say hello! With the beautiful cake cut, it was time for me to head home, they chose against having a first dance, so I left them preparing for an evening of dancing as the disco ball was put on display.
