An Intimate Winter Wedding - Alice & Ricky’s Story
Alice and Ricky knew a big wedding wasn’t their style, so they went for something that felt just right—an intimate winter ceremony with only their closest family and friends. Instead of a huge celebration, they planned a relaxed evening party for a few weeks later. They tied the knot at the historic Windsor Guildhall, then headed to a cozy local pub for a private dinner, making their day feel warm, personal, and completely them.
Photographing Alice and Ricky’s wedding was extra special for me because Alice and I actually went to the same secondary school! It was such a lovely full-circle moment to capture this huge milestone in her and Ricky’s life—it felt even more meaningful to be part of their day.
A Cozy Ceremony at Dusk
Alice arrived at the Guildhall in a stunning vintage car, stepping straight inside for her pre-ceremony interview. Meanwhile, Ricky waited up front, surrounded by their closest family and friends, who filled the first few rows. The ceremony itself was everything they had hoped for—intimate, emotional, and filled with love (with a few happy tears along the way!). After saying "I do" and walking back down the aisle as newlyweds, everyone stayed in the ceremony room to toast with a glass of bubbly and capture some beautiful portraits before heading off to celebrate.
Portraits & Confetti after Dark
Their ceremony took place in the late afternoon, and with it being a winter wedding, the sun had already started setting by 3:30. By the time we left the Guildhall, it was completely dark—perfect for getting creative with flash! I used it for their confetti walk and portraits, and I absolutely loved the results. It gave their gallery a stylish, editorial feel. For their portraits, we took a short walk near the Guildhall before they hopped back into their vintage car and headed straight to the pub for a cozy dinner.
A Cosy Winter Pub for Speeches & Dinner
After their portraits, we made our way to the pub, where Alice and Ricky had booked a private room for an intimate dinner—a perfect way to celebrate their cozy winter wedding. As soon as they arrived, it was time for speeches, and Alice’s dad, Ricky, and the best man did not disappoint! The room was filled with laughter, a few happy tears, and plenty of heartfelt moments. Before sitting down to enjoy their meal, they cut into their beautifully decorated cake, marking the sweetest start to the evening. With good food, great company, and plenty of wine flowing, we said our goodbyes and left them to soak up the rest of their special night.
“Carys was absolutely AMAZING! She made the day so relaxed, she took incredible photos and kept everyone at ease. The pre wedding communication was also brilliant with calls and emails with clear information. On the day she was professional, organised and so friendly. We’re so grateful to have had Carys capture our special day. Can’t recommend enough!”
