An August Tipi Wedding in West Sussex

I was SO excited when Lauren and Joey booked me to capture their day. A tipi wedding is a personal favorite of mine to capture, as I love being outdoors and they have such a nice festival vibe to them, if you know me, you know I love a festival. There is always a slight risk of rain, even in the summer, (you never know with UK weather.) However, Lauren and Joey did not have this problem, as it was a glorious summer's day!!

I joined Lauren at a cottage they’d rented near the ceremony. As I arrived, I captured the final moments of their bridal prep, before heading off to the ceremony, we had some quick portraits in the garden, under some much-needed shade, and then we headed to the church!

A traditional church ceremony in West Sussex

The church was beautiful, it had a little driveway leading to the entrance, where Lauren and her dad arrived in style - a vintage little blue Fiat! It was a lovely ceremony and they even had a choir singing at the back of the church whilst they signed the register. It was a light and spacious church, so it was perfect for me to move around and get some different angles of their ceremony. After the confetti was thrown, the little blue fiat was waiting to drive them away, and it was here where I captured one of my favorite portraits of Lauren.

Before heading to the reception, we went to capture some portraits, Lauren and Joey had scoped out an area beforehand, so we headed there together, all squeezed inside the little Fiat. Lauren and Joey shared a glass of customized champagne and we cracked on with capturing some stunning portraits. Lauren had sent across some ideas beforehand on Instagram of the style she wanted. We even got the little fiat involved which resulted in some really fun portraits of the two of them.

Stylish Tipi’s in the Sussex Countryside

After their portraits, it was time to head to their reception, and what a location! A spacious field, with three amazing tipis set up in the center, along with a horse cart bar, and a large tree which had some much-needed shade. I was grateful for this shade when it came to getting some portraits of the bridal party. They held their speeches outside, so everyone gathered around outside to listen, which was a nice touch. After the speeches, it was time for dinner, so everyone headed inside the tipis to tuck into a delicious meal made by Set the Date Catering.

Once everyone had filled their bellies, the drinks continued into the evening. We took advantage of the giant swing and captured some fun portraits of Lauren and her bridesmaids, followed by Lauren and Joey together. As the sun set it was time for their first dance, they chose against cutting their cake, so it was straight into the first dance, and soon after everyone joined in, and celebrated on the dance floor.

“If I could give more stars I would. Carys was absolutely perfect for our wedding day from start to finish, not to mention super talented! She was exactly what we wanted from our photographer & at times we forgot she was there snapping away all of our special moments! We had endless compliments from guests throughout the day, evening, and when we got our first images through the next day. Highly recommend! Thank you Carys for making our day so special and providing memories to last a life time!”
