Lucy & Alex’s Woodland Wedding at Hawthush Farm

Lucy and Alex’s wedding was such a joy to photograph. It was my first time working at Hawthush Farm and oh my goodness… I LOVE this place, I mean how often do you have the opportunity to get married in the woods? The barn where Lucy and Alex held their reception was beautiful and there was so much space for all the tables and a good-size dance floor for the evening. I can’t wait to share these highlights from their day.

I joined Lucy and her bridesmaids in the morning, in one of the cozy cottages onsite at Hawthush Farm. It was an exciting morning for everyone as they all got ready, one of the bridesmaids was on hairstyling duty and did an excellent job! The last hour of prep flew by, so before long we were having the first look with Lucy’s dad and bridesmaids. The benefit of this venue is that everything is in one location, so once everyone was ready it was a short walk from the cottage to the woodland where their ceremony took place.

An Intimate Woodland Ceremony

A little path led towards an opening where the ceremony was held, it had been decorated beautifully with stunning flower arrangements by Bryony Mae  Flowers and rugs placed on the floor, giving the space a cozy vibe whilst being outdoors. Lucy and Alex’s ceremony was really special, they each read out vows they had written, which brought tears to their eyes, and gave a personal touch to their ceremony. For their confetti walk, guests lined the aisle and pathway through the woods, confetti shots are always some of my favorites, you can see the joy on their faces!! It always puts a smile on my face.

Portraits at Dusk and Dancing in the Barn

After the ceremony, everyone walked together across the farm to the barn, it was a beautiful September day so it was great to capture Lucy and Alex, and all of their guests making their way towards the barn. With the weather being so glorious, we split their portrait session in two, there is something special about portraits at dusk, not only is the lighting more dreamy, but it’s a perfect chance to soak up more time together, just the two of you. Lucy and Alex took this opportunity to practice their first dance, which always makes for good portraits.

They had giant meringues for dessert which I haven’t seen as an option before but I’m here for it, guests could come up and help themselves to the different toppings! As the afternoon flowed into the evening, it was time for the last two traditions, cake cutting and the first dance, where everyone got involved with the dancing.

Lucy and Alex, thank you for trusting me to capture your day, I loved being part of it!!
