A Beautiful Liverpool Wedding – Emily & Mike’s Love Story

There’s something so magical about a September Liverpool wedding, and Emily and Michael’s big day was no exception. With crisp autumn air, golden leaves, and the city’s iconic charm, it was the perfect setting for their wedding. Their day was all about celebrating with family and friends in the city they love.

Getting Ready moments in the heart of Liverpool

Emily chose to get ready at The Municipal Hotel, and what a stunning choice it was! The room was so spacious, with gorgeous large windows that made the perfect spot for her hair and makeup. I joined her in the final hour, and you could feel the mix of excitement and a few pre-ceremony nerves in the air—totally natural!

I started by capturing all the beautiful details, including a special pair of wedding pearls gifted by her mum. That last hour always flies by, and before we knew it, it was time for Emily to step into her dress. This was when the nerves really started to set in, but after taking a deep breath, she was ready. Moments later, she shared a heartfelt first look with her lovely dad—a truly special moment to capture!

A Romantic Liverpool Wedding Ceremony at Lister Steps Old Library

Emily and Michael chose Lister Steps Old Library for both their ceremony and reception—a beautifully restored community space that was once a library. The venue had such a unique vintage charm, making it the perfect setting for their heartfelt "I do’s."

Emily walked down the aisle with her dad, her veil delicately covering her face—a timeless moment that’s always so striking to capture. The ceremony itself was filled with love, and one of my favourite moments was seeing their pure joy as they walked back down the aisle, officially Mr. & Mrs! Their Liverpool wedding was off to the most beautiful start.

Confetti & Vintage Decor

After the ceremony, it was straight into their confetti walk—an amazing moment as guests lined the pathway leading up to Lister Steps Old Library. The confetti tunnel was long, but there was plenty to go around, making for the most magical photos!

The soft, cloudy autumn light set the perfect mood for the day, beautifully complementing Emily’s stunning bouquet. And speaking of flowers—their ceremony space was later transformed into a gorgeous dining area, filled not just with blooms but also mushrooms! As big mushroom lovers, this little touch felt so personal and completely them, making the decor even more special. The rich tones of the flowers and the warm candlelight added to the cosy charm of their Liverpool wedding.

Wedding Portraits in a Liverpool Park

As their reception drinks kicked off, we slipped away in a beautiful vintage car and drove a short distance to Newsham Park, one of the green spaces in Liverpool, and it was perfect! The cloudy autumn sky created the most flattering soft light, adding to the cosy seasonal feel of their Liverpool wedding.

On arrival, they shared a glass of champagne by the car before we explored the park, stopping by a peaceful duck pond for some portraits before continuing to wander. Couple portraits are always a perfect chance to take a step back from the busy wedding day and just soak up each other’s company—Emily and Michael were glowing with happiness.

Heartfelt Speeches & Fun with Friends in Liverpool

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner and speeches—and wow, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! Emily gave such a heartfelt speech, and having her bridesmaid share a few words as well made it even more special.

After all the laughter and happy tears, guests made their way outside to enjoy the spacious outdoor area. With plenty of lawn games to play and cosy seating to relax in, it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. The relaxed and joyful vibe suited their Liverpool wedding so perfectly, with everyone making the most of the beautiful autumnal setting.

A Beautiful Cake baked by Emily and Plenty of Dancing

As the evening rolled in, it was time for the big cake-cutting moment—and what a cake it was! Emily herself made it, and honestly, I’m still obsessed. It was beautifully decorated and had more tiers than I think I’ve ever seen on a wedding cake! Capturing them cutting into it, sharing a first slice, and laughing together was such a fun moment. And from there, they went straight into their first dance—a perfect way to wrap up such an incredible Liverpool wedding. What an absolute joy it was to capture every moment!
