Silchester Farm Wedding

Silchester Farm

Katie & Ed’s wedding

On one of the hottest days of the year I had the pleasure of shooting Katie and Ed’s wedding at Silchester Farm. Katie was so excited about the venue they’d chosen and I completely understand why. It was such a stunning space, from the getting ready room, to the ceremony barn and the reception, which was an outside barn decorated with a rustic style.

Katie and Ed booked me for a full days coverage, so I joined them as they were getting ready. Katie, decided against having bridesmaids, so her lovely mum kept her company. I arrived as the final touches to her hair and makeup were being completed, and she looked so stunning. I popped next door to see Ed as he got ready with his dad. A benefit of having a wedding all in the same location, I’m able to hop between bridal and groom prep, so I managed to capture there final moments before teiing-the-knot.

A beautiful barn Ceremony at Silchester Farm.

Before long it was time for them to get married! Katie made her way to the ceremony barn with her dad, which was a short walk from the getting ready room. The barn was decorated with beautiful flowers arranged by Tawny Flower Studio. During the ceremony, it was so warm and humid that hand held fans were handed to the Katie and Ed to keep them cool. It is hard to imagine that sort of heat as I write this now.

Dinner and drinks inside a rustic barn at Silchester farm

Once some bubbly had been drank and family portraits had been taken, we all made our way to the cowshed - which is defiantly not what you’d expect from the name. The room (airconditioned - hooray!) had been decorated in a rustic style, and the stunning flowers continued onto the table decor. With a smaller number of guests invited during the day, the dinner and drinks reception felt intimate and special. After food, we had the speeches, followed by the little ones having a look at the farm animals grazing in the field behind the cowshed.

Couple portraits as the sun goes down.

Whilst the sun was setting, we headed out together to explore and get some portraits of the two of them. The lighting was perfect, and the temperature was much cooler so we could spend a bit of time (20-30 mins) together. We started off with saying hello to Silchester Farms iconic pigs (how cute are they?!). There is so much space to explore on the farm, with different backdrops all within a short walk from each other. A few of my favourites were taken under the barn shelter, Katie and Ed were such a joy to photograph.

Post portrait session, it was time to dance, Katie and Ed had everyone up and dancing together. As the evening guests arrived, the pizza van was ready to rumble, so everyone was able to tuck into more delicious food. I finished just as the sun went down, I loved capturing their day and exploring a new venue.
