Jess & Lewis’ Summer Wedding at Polhawn Fort

A glimpse into their wedding along the beautiful Cornish coast, at Polhawn Fort.

From the moment Jess and Lewis booked me, I was counting down the days to their wedding. Any excuse to visit Cornwall is a win for me, especially when it means capturing a beautiful wedding at a stunning venue with such a lovely couple. They envisioned a relaxed day in a gorgeous location surrounded by their loved ones, and that's exactly what unfolded.

Bridal Prep Inside the Fort

I joined Jess for her final bridal prep moments. She was just about to step into her dress—a gorgeous lace number with detailed half-sleeves. Everyone was dressed and ready ahead of time, allowing Jess and her bridesmaids to sip on some bubbly before the ceremony. It was the perfect calm before the big moment.

A Ceremony of Dreams at Polhawn Fort

Polhawn Fort offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for a ceremony. The Cornish coast was sparkling as Jess and Lewis exchanged vows. Guests arrived to the soothing sounds of a friend playing guitar—a personal touch that set the perfect tone. After the vows, they walked back down the aisle under a shower of confetti, the ideal end to their beautiful outdoor ceremony.

Beach Portraits and Celebrations Inside the Fort

After the ceremony, we took advantage of Polhawn Fort’s private beach, accessible by steps. It was the perfect spot for Jess and Lewis’ portraits and bridal party photos. The setting was a photographer's dream, resulting in some truly stunning shots of the couple and their friends.

The reception took place inside the Fort, where they had their wedding breakfast and speeches. The tables stretched the length of the room, allowing everyone to sit together. Laughter and tears filled the air during the speeches, especially when one of Jess’ bridesmaids broke tradition with a heartfelt speech of her own—another lovely personal touch.

As the sun set, the main reception room transformed into a dance floor. Guests enjoyed drinks, soaked in the views, and danced the night away to a traditional Cornish band. Jess and Lewis aced their first dance, quickly getting everyone else to join in.

A Heartfelt Thanks

Thank you, Jess and Lewis, for trusting me to capture your special day. It was truly an honor to be part of it, and I can’t wait to return to Cornwall for more beautiful weddings like yours!

“I couldn’t recommend Carys enough! On the big day she took all of the stress away from both myself and the groom, confirming exactly what we had previously discussed. Once guests started arriving, Carys blended in to the point where she felt like one of our guests, she was lovely and everyone really enjoyed talking to her between pictures. We couldn’t be happier when we received our personalised box with USB and selected prints. Such a lovely keepsake to treasure forever! The pictures are even better than we imagined. Thank you Carys!” Jess & Lewis
